Google: Follow Our Structured Data Requirements to Ensure Rich Result Eligibility via @MattGSouthern

Google’s John Mueller recommends following the company’s official structured data requirements to ensure content is eligible to be displayed as a rich result. This topic was discussed in the latest instalment of the #AskGoogleWebmasters video series in which the following question was addressed: “[Do] we need to use structured data as per the Google Developers site (including required/recommended properties) or can we use more properties from Schema.org apart from the Developers site?” In response, Mueller says it’s perfectly fine to use structured data properties that aren’t listed in the Google Developers site. Structured data that’s listed on the Developers site is what Google officially supports as rich results – there […]

Fabrice Canel, Principal Program Manager of Microsoft-Bing, states: “By adopting Microsoft Edge, Bingbot will now render all web pages using the same underlying web platform technology already used today by Googlebot, […]

Bingbot goes evergreen

Bingbot goes evergreen

Bingbot will be evergreen as Bing adopts the Chromium-based Edge browser to render web pages and run JavaScript, Microsoft announced on Wednesday. Why we should care Since the new, evergreen Bingbot is based off of the Chromium platform — the same platform as Google’s Chrome browser and Googlebot — SEOs and developers should have an easier time getting their pages crawled by both search engines without having to research or troubleshoot for each particular crawler. More on the announcement Bing’s transition to Edge will be occurring over the next few months. The company may change Bingbot’s user agent to allow rendering on some sites. The next version of Microsoft Edge […]

Google to Use Machine Learning to Manage Ad Frequency When Cookies Are Missing via @MattGSouthern

Google announced it will soon be using machine learning to manage ad frequency when third-party cookies are missing. This change will first roll out in the coming weeks to Display & Video 360, though Google has plans to bring this capability to its display offerings in Google Ads as well. Google is rolling out this change as part of a larger effort to improve user privacy while still being able to serve ads in a way that’s effective for publishers and marketers. Usually, when third-party cookies are blocked or restricted, advertisers no longer have the ability to limit the number of times someone sees an ad. That means someone who’s […]

Domain Analysis, a free tool from search marketing analytics company Moz launched Wednesday. The website provides an overview of SEO metrics for any domain. Why we should care We’re all marketers here, and this is of course a marketing tool for Moz. But that doesn’t mean it’s not useful.
