Account-Based Marketing vs. Inbound Marketing: What’s the Difference?

Account-Based Marketing vs. Inbound Marketing: What’s the Difference?

In a perfect world, B2B marketing begins with picking the right clients to market to and serving them the right message, every single time. Think about how much easier marketing is when you know exactly which companies to target — and not only who your target clients are, but what marketing messages would best resonate with them. That’s the dream, right? While we don’t live in a perfect world, we do live in a world where inbound marketing and account-based marketing (ABM) exist. And, when these two strategies work together, this dream can become a reality. You may be pretty familiar with inbound marketing: creating content that delights customers. You […]

Twitter Adds New Labels on Potentially Harmful COVID-19 Misinformation in Tweets

With COVID-19 misinformation continuing to circulate through social media platforms, Twitter has announced some new measures to help slow the spread of falsehoods, including a new label to alert users to potentially harmful COVID-19 misinformation. As explained by Twitter: “During active conversations about disputed issues, it can be helpful to see additional context from trusted sources. Earlier this year, we introduced a new label for Tweets containing synthetic and manipulated media. Similar labels will now appear on Tweets containing potentially harmful, misleading information related to COVID-19. This will also apply to Tweets sent before today.” The tags do indeed look similar to Twitter’s ‘Manipulated media’ alerts, which the platform added back […]

9 Ways You Can Improve Your Ecommerce Website Design

9 Ways You Can Improve Your Ecommerce Website Design

The other day I was shopping online for a Nintendo Switch, a popular handheld gaming console. The popularity of the console has made it extremely difficult to find one — stores like Best Buy and Target were out of stock. This meant that I had to reach outside of my comfort zone when browsing. I scoured Google to find an ecommerce option that carried the Switch. Even though I was desperate to reach my goal, I was very selective about where to shop. As a consumer, website design is one of the biggest factors I take into consideration when choosing where to spend my money. If the website design isn’t […]

Stores have been closed so location data isn’t relevant, right? Wrong.

Stores have been closed so location data isn’t relevant, right? Wrong.

Until COVID-19 hit, location data was being used by marketers for real-world audience insights and online-to-offline attribution. And while smartphone data has gotten attention as part of “contact tracing,” one could assume marketing use cases for location data might have disappeared. What consumers are actually doing. But that’s definitely not the case. Many marketers are using location data for real-time insights about what consumers are doing on the ground — literally. Surveys reflect attitudes, hopes and fears. But behavior is often different. As a basic matter, “You can see how people actually responding to the guidance they’ve been given,” observes Duncan McCall, CEO of PlaceIQ. “Are they going out, are […]

What are enterprise workflow and project management tools and how do they help marketers?

What are enterprise workflow and project management tools and how do they help marketers?

The Project Management Institute (PMI) defines a project as “a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result. A project is temporary in that it has a defined beginning and end in time, and therefore defined scope and resources.” For marketers and agencies, a project might be a particular campaign or initiative, or it may be the development of a website or a mobile app. These efforts might involve in-house or contract developers or designers and may require collaboration across regions or around the globe. In our recent Martech Intelligence Report, we examine software that documents and optimizes the processes, workflows and projects undertaken by digital marketers. […]

Don’t try to reinvent the SEO wheel, says Google’s Martin Splitt

[embedded content] “You might shoot yourself in the foot when you don’t expect it, so why would you build something more brittle if all it does is solve a non-problem?” Martin Splitt, search developer advocate for Google, warned SEOs and developers. Reinventing the wheel with technical workarounds has been a frustrating trend, Splitt said on our crawling and indexing session of Live with Search Engine Land. During his discussion Friday with Search Engine Land News Editor Barry Schwartz, Splitt shared ways that SEOs can avoid the most common indexing and JavaScript pitfalls, why he and other Google employees refrain from addressing all our questions as well as why the company […]

The time for a website migration is now

The time for a website migration is now

Back in March I wrote about reconsidering your decision to pull back on digital marketing budgets due to COVID-19. In a time of uncertainty, it’s natural for businesses to be questioning their spending. As revenue is declining many companies are becoming rich in people-hours and poor with cash-in-hand. This is why I emphatically suggest that NOW is the time your company doubles down on their website. Now is the time to push forward on that migration project the team has been putting off for so long. Why migrate now? In my 10+ years helping businesses execute migrations, I commonly hear two reasons why they’ve put them off for so long. […]
