7 Request for Approval Emails to Make Client Communication Easier [Templates]

When you’ve got an important email to write, it can seemingly take hours. You write, revise, delete, and agonize over every word, link, and even your email signature. And if you are selling your staff’s time in the form of the billable hour, this can be a huge waste of resources. While we’re talking about one-on-one communication, it’s a worthwhile pursuit to create a library of canned email responses or templates that your team can use for specific activities or in response to clients. It ensures that the communication from your team is clear and consistent, makes it easier to respond to requests more quickly, and removes the uncertainty that junior staffers […]

‘Tis the Season for Reporting (And a New Mini Guide)

How is it already reporting season again? Time to generate those dreaded end-of-year SEO reports that take hours to create and mere seconds for your client to skim through and toss to the side. We’ve all been there. But here’s the thing: it’s absolutely necessary! Not only for you and your team to track progress, but to prove value to your clients as well. Reporting for SEO can feel like a time-black-hole. You have an infinite amount of data that you have to sort through and piece together to tell a story. You know that you saw something, somewhere at some point that proved a strategy worked, but of course, […]

SMX Overtime: Managing your online business reviews

SMX Overtime: Managing your online business reviews

Last month I spoke at SMX East about scaling online reputation management – specifically reviews. At the end of my presentation, “14 Tips to Scale Reviews Across Multiple Locations,” I fielded a number of fantastic questions from session attendees and wanted to follow-up on some additional ones. How do I convince clients to respond to reviews on Google? First and foremost, responding to customer reviews builds trust. When a business responds to reviews, it demonstrates that it cares enough about its customers to respond to them. Being responsive builds trust not only with the person who wrote the review but also with future customers who might be looking at reviews […]

Knowledge Graph Algorithm Update Summer 2019 (a.k.a. Budapest) via @jasonmbarnard

It hadn’t occurred to me in quite these terms before, but Google has an algorithm for its Knowledge Graph. I have been tracking the Knowledge Graph API for five years. The resultScores have always been rising slightly in a pretty stable manner. But Google updated the algorithm in the summer of 2019. Big time. REALLY, REALLY big time. How this major update affects the search ecosystem is yet to be determined. But this may prove to be a turning point both for Google and for us as digital marketers. In this article, I will explain what I am tracking, how I am tracking it, make some observations about the data […]

Google brings ‘Interpreter Mode’ language translation to the Assistant on smartphones

Google brings ‘Interpreter Mode’ language translation to the Assistant on smartphones

Google introduced its real-time translation feature, “Interpreter Mode,” for Google Home and smart displays earlier this year. It tested the feature in several hotels in Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco at concierge and registration desks. Now the company is more broadly rolling out Interpreter Mode to Android devices and iPhones. Where there were 26 languages available on Google Home, there are now 44 on the smartphone Assistant. Google Translate also works. While the capability is impressive, people have been using Google Translate in real-world travel or foreign-language contexts like this for some time. This is just a more elegant and enhanced presentation of Google’s underlying machine translation capabilities. […]

Designing a Podcast for Audio SEO, According to HubSpot’s Podcast Expert

In 2019, Google began rolling out what is arguably one of the most significant changes to its search engine since the introduction of dedicated video carousels in June 2018, or the introduction of featured snippets in October 2017: Google has begun to ad podcasts to search results. Every minor tweak to the search algorithm can have marketers scrambling to understand how they can take advantage of this shift — or, for the more pessimistic, how to avoid getting pushed to the dreaded page two of search results. Adding the podcast to search results is going to affect content creators, SEO specialists, marketers, and perhaps most importantly, it will also likely […]
