5 PPC Trends to Get Ready for in 2020 via @lorenbaker

Predicting the future is never easy – particularly in the world of PPC. Even with all the campaign data in the world, you don’t know the latest trends until they hit. It’s a tough task staying on top of all the updates released by the likes of Google, Bing, and YouTube. It can be even harder to learn new things and quickly adapt to the changes. On October 23, I moderated a sponsored SEJ webinar presented by Adzooma’s Puneet Vaghela and Sal Mohammed. They shared the five biggest PPC trends coming up in 2020 and how marketers can increase paid search performance while staying on top of the latest industry […]

16 Effective Ways to Build Your Online Presence

16 Effective Ways to Build Your Online Presence

The other day I was trying to find the perfect dress pant yoga pants because I wanted comfortable, professional clothing options. When I searched for “dress pant yoga pants” on Google, I found the brand Betabrand. Amazingly, the company dominated the top four search results. The first two results were their website, the third was their Amazon page, and the fourth was a review of their product. Deciding I wanted to look into it further, I searched for Betabrand on Google and found their social media pages, a Wikipedia page, their website, their Amazon store, and reviews. They were impossible to ignore online. Ultimately, I ended up making a purchase. […]

Facebook and Instagram Might Remove Like Counts: What This Means for Marketers

Facebook and Instagram Might Remove Like Counts: What This Means for Marketers

For the past few months, Instagram has been testing a new app design that removes total Like and view counts from posts in its News Feed and on profile pages. Although Instagram’s parent company Facebook hasn’t yet revealed any details about the experiment’s results, the test has expanded to seven countries and reps recently confirmed that they’re weighing change that would remove Like, view, and reaction counts on Facebook’s platform as well. Throughout the experiment, Instagram has been replacing total Like and view counts with a list of two to three handles of people who liked the post. Users are still able to privately see the total number of Likes […]

Google ad revenue growth steadies in Q3: Propelled by mobile search, YouTube

(We’ll have to take his word for it because Alphabet doesn’t provide revenue breakdowns for any of those segments.) Ad revenue trends. Ad revenue from Google properties (Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Play Store, Shopping) was $28.6 billion, up 19% from $24.1 billion a year […]

Google Shows Paywall Content in Featured Snippets via @martinibuster

A member of the search marketing community tweeted his surprise that Google ranked a paywalled web page in the featured snippets.  Google’s official description of featured snippets precludes content that cannot be clicked through to be read. But other documentation states that paywalled content is acceptable for Google Search as well as Google News. In addition to requirements for structured data that is missing, it’s unclear if this featured snippet is a mistake or if Google meant to do that. Scott Hendison (@shendison) tweeted his opinion that paywalled content does not belong in Google search results. “I personally think paywalled content doesnt belong in @Google SERPs unless they’re marked, but […]

The Future of Work Is in These 3 Things

People are changing the way they work. The root of this change is the growing acceptance of flexibility in the workplace. So, when we talk about the future of work, we have to focus on what’s influencing change. Sitting in a cubicle from nine to five decked out in business casual is no longer considered the office norm. Did you know that 50% of the workforce has adopted a “casual dress” rule? What has been found is symmetrical value between how customers want to connect with the businesses they support and employees who want to work for the businesses they support. This aligns with flexibility. The future of work is […]

10 of the Best Tools to Find Relevant Influencers on Social Media

While it’s become a much bigger consideration in recent years, influencer marketing, as a practice, has actually existed for a very long time. In the past, however, influencers were only on TV or in magazines, and unlike social media, TV and newspapers are limited, which led to a situation where a select number of celebrities were able to charge tons of money for making an ad for Pepsi or Swatch in order to influence consumer behavior. With the birth of social platforms, everything changed. The Internet has no limits, there can be as many influencers as the world requires. They can be of any age and social status, and in any […]
