Snapchat Launches New, Interactive Ad Format, New Competitive Game Features

Snapchat has this week launched a new movie preview ad format called a “trailer reaction lens” as part of a campaign for the upcoming Paramount Pictures film “Top Gun: Maverick”. As you can see here, the new Lens switches your view to split screen, with the trailer on top, and the front-facing camera on the bottom. Users can then film their reactions to the trailer, while they can also add dedicated digital mask-type tools to their image, adding to the feel of the film. The format seems somewhat similar to TikTok’s ‘React’ option, which enables users to share their video responses to TikTok videos. The option also reminded me of this web […]

Facebook Owns the Four Most Downloaded Apps of the Decade

Facebook Owns the Four Most Downloaded Apps of the Decade

In case there was any question of Facebook’s dominance, a new report from app analytics firm App Annie has shown that The Social Network owns the top four most downloaded mobile apps over the last decade. As you can see, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram lead the way in total downloads for the period. Which is no real surprise, but it is worth noting the company’s hold over the mobile market, and the success of its business model and approach over the last ten years. Facebook has, of course, made various mistakes and missteps in its expansion, and it continues to push ahead with some contentious decisions. But it’s tough to […]

That would involve arranging multiple photos together […]

TechSEOBoost is a tech SEO’s paradise: incredibly technical and actionable sessions inspiring innovative approaches and empowering solutions. What was a PPC person doing there!?!?! Usually, if there’s a PPC track, the PPC folks will go there. If there’s an SEO track, the SEO folks will go there. Too long have the silos between SEO and PPC blocked empathy and knowledge shared between the two disciplines. This PPC marketer was curious to understand what pain points and innovations our counterparts were exploring. One of the best parts of the conference was seeing how many parallels there are in where SEO and PPC are evolving. If there’s one focus point we can […]

The SEO’s Introduction to Rendering via @Jammer_Volts

The SEO’s Introduction to Rendering via @Jammer_Volts

Let’s start this out with a bang. Googlebot isn’t what you think. SEO professionals refer to Googlebot with a strange form of reverence reserved in prior generations for all-knowing deities and unseen powers. It’s dramatic, gives flair to a story, but oversimplifies the true identity of Googlebot. Googlebot is simply a user-agent. It is the identifier of a request – a fancy version of caller ID. Once the request receives a response, Googlebot’s job is over and it’s off to request the next URI. The collected response runs through a series of services and processes before it appears in SERP. The scrappy user-agent gets all the glory, but we need […]

Don’t know much about SEO: Survey finds business owners lack basic knowledge

Don’t know much about SEO: Survey finds business owners lack basic knowledge

Google launched in 1998, more than 20 years ago. Yet the importance and value of search optimization is still not fully understood by many business owners. That’s an eye-opening finding from a recent survey by digital agency Fractl. Business owners and consumers surveyed. Fractl surveyed 977 people in total about their Google and SEO knowledge, just under 400 of them were business owners (394). Just over 200 (219) had fewer than 5 employees. The remainder had between 5 and more than 100, with second largest group in the 10 to 24 headcount range. The survey asked a range of general and specific questions, including “the meaning behind SEO buzzwords.” The […]
