Freelancing is an attractive way of life. The independence, autonomy, flexibility, and unlimited financial potential are all incredibly inviting, especially for employees who are tired of their mundane work environment. But, there’s still some mystery surrounding the enigmatic career choice. As a freelancer, how do you make money? Where do you find work or jobs? How do you figure out what to do? What about insurance and benefits? These questions are what typically stop people from pursuing a full-time freelance career. And these questions are the ones we’ll answer in this guide. I was a freelancer before joining HubSpot — AKA the best career decision I’ve ever made. Starting my […]
Typically, when I talk about video campaigns in Google Ads, I talk about TrueView in-stream ads. These are the pre-roll ads that play before or during the video a user actually intended on watching. While I recommend these ads to almost anyone interested in running ads on YouTube, TrueView video discovery ads could be a better fit in certain cases. I want to show you why discovery ads could be either a better fit for your account or even a great complement to the campaigns you are already running. Video discovery ads can capitalize on deeper intent Many video marketers may say that custom intent audiences for YouTube are the […]
With SMX East right around the corner, it’s a great time to start the conversation that will shape my talk in November – How to Structure Your Facebook Campaigns for Success. However, if you’re able to keep these two things in mind, you’ll be well on your way to establishing a sound foundation to scale your social program. Predicting the future is never easy – particularly in the world of PPC. Even with all the campaign data in the world, you don’t know the latest trends until they hit. It’s a tough task staying on top of all the updates released by the likes of Google, Bing, and YouTube. It can be even harder to learn new things and quickly adapt to the changes. On October 23, I moderated a sponsored SEJ webinar presented by Adzooma’s Puneet Vaghela and Sal Mohammed. They shared the five biggest PPC trends coming up in 2020 and how marketers can increase paid search performance while staying on top of the latest industry […]
The other day I was trying to find the perfect dress pant yoga pants because I wanted comfortable, professional clothing options. When I searched for “dress pant yoga pants” on Google, I found the brand Betabrand. Amazingly, the company dominated the top four search results. The first two results were their website, the third was their Amazon page, and the fourth was a review of their product. Deciding I wanted to look into it further, I searched for Betabrand on Google and found their social media pages, a Wikipedia page, their website, their Amazon store, and reviews. They were impossible to ignore online. Ultimately, I ended up making a purchase. […]
For the past few months, Instagram has been testing a new app design that removes total Like and view counts from posts in its News Feed and on profile pages. Although Instagram’s parent company Facebook hasn’t yet revealed any details about the experiment’s results, the test has expanded to seven countries and reps recently confirmed that they’re weighing change that would remove Like, view, and reaction counts on Facebook’s platform as well. Throughout the experiment, Instagram has been replacing total Like and view counts with a list of two to three handles of people who liked the post. Users are still able to privately see the total number of Likes […]
Click to enlarge. Google parent company Alphabet reported advertising revenues of $33.9 billion for the third quarter, a 17% increase from $29 billion a year ago. Overall, the company reported revenues of $40.5 billion for the quarter on Monday, an increase of 20% year-over-year, but below the $40.3 billion analysts expected. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said revenue growth was driven by mobile search, YouTube and Cloud. (We’ll have to take his word for it because Alphabet doesn’t provide revenue breakdowns for any of those segments.) Ad revenue trends. Ad revenue from Google properties (Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Play Store, Shopping) was $28.6 billion, up 19% from $24.1 billion a year […]
