Facebook Launches New Monthly Update on “Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior” Detection

Over the last few years, Facebook has provided regular updates on clusters of accounts that it’s detected which have been engaged in what it calls “coordinated inauthentic behavior” – essentially, broad-scale operations designed to misinform and mislead Facebook users. Following the 2016 US Presidential Election, and revelations of foreign interference in political process, Facebook has been taking a more proactive approach to keeping the public informed of its efforts. And now, Facebook is looking to consolidate these reports into a monthly summary, providing overviews of each individual misinformation campaign, and how it operated, along with the scope of action Facebook has taken against it. As explained by Facebook: “Over the past […]

Facebook Outlines “Smaller, Faster” Messenger on iOS

Facebook Outlines “Smaller, Faster” Messenger on iOS

Last week, Facebook began rolling out a new, streamlined version of Messenger on iOS, which most notably sees the removal of the ‘Discover’ tab, narrowing your in-app navigation options. Byte Outlines Initial Payment Process for Creators, With $250k Allocated to Payments

One of the key elements that eventually lead to the demise of short-form video app Vine was its inability to offer revenue-generation tools for top creators. As goes the story, a group of Vine’s top creators, who had seen other Vine makers migrating to YouTube and Instagram to make money, met with Vine management in 2016 and called on the company to formulate a better revenue-sharing process, or see them abandon the platform, taking their audiences with them. Vine, and parent company Twitter, were unable to come up with a workable alternative, so the creators left, in what eventually proved to be the final blow for the app. Vine co-founder […]

Heart, Ear, Eye, Mind, Mouth: Local SEO Exercises for Your Least Technical Clients

Heart, Ear, Eye, Mind, Mouth: Local SEO Exercises for Your Least Technical Clients

When was the last time you relaxed with a client? As a local business consultant, I know that deeper marketing insights can be discovered when you set aside formality and share experiences: a moment, a laugh, a common bond. When I’m looking for ways to make life easier for a client, I sometimes reflect on ancient practices like yoga, tai chi, and mindful breathing, which are increasingly understood as beneficial to human health. For a space in time, they reduce the complex world we live in to a simpler one where being, breath, movement, and focus bring the practitioner to a more intuitive state. Local marketing agencies can empathize with the complex […]

How Long Should Blog Posts Be in 2020? [New Data]

If you’re a blogger, you’ve probably asked your editor “how long should this blog post be” more times than you’d care to admit. And most of the time, you’ll hear an answer that sounds something like this: “However long it needs to be.” There’s certainly a nugget of truth in there — you shouldn’t beholden yourself to a character count that’s either too low or too high. However, any experienced blogger will tell you that there is an ideal length or range for how long your blog posts should be, especially when you take certain criteria into account like your audience, the topic, the structure of the post, and what […]
