Facebook Tests ‘Suggested Time’ Feature for Scheduled Posts

This is interesting – Facebook is reportedly testing a new ‘Suggested’ option within its post scheduling options for Pages which would enable Page admins to reach their audiences when they’re most active on the platform. As you can see in this image, posted by Facebook Page admin @GIFChaseH (and shared by social media expert Matt Navarra), the new scheduling screen includes a ‘Suggested’ option which provides a recommendation of when you should post to maximize engagement. The explanation below the marker reads: “Schedule your post based on when your fans were most active last week” Similar functionality is available in various social media management tools, but this variation, using Facebook’s own, […]

#SMTLive Recap: Building a Social Media Style Guide

#SMTLive Recap: Building a Social Media Style Guide

I would love to know the statistics of how many marketers actually use a social media style guide day-to-day. In my opinion, it seems like everyone knows the purpose of a style guide, but I’m not convinced that the majority of marketers recognize the value and immense support this type of document will offer their brand — because if that were the case, everyone would make this a top priority. This is not to say that many haven’t done the preliminary audience research to build a social strategy, but your social strategy will always be lacking context (especially for future employees) without a style guide. Note: Your social strategy and content plan […]

Pinterest’s Testing Emoji-Like Reactions for Video Response

Fresh from rolling out its new reactions for group boards, Pinterest is now testing a whole other style of quick emoji response characters, this time for videos posted on the platform. As you can see here, this new version of reactions emojis – spotted by reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong within the back-end code of the Pinterest app – is more cartoonish and different to regular emoji characters. They also vary significantly from the emoji reactions Pinterest rolled out for group boards late last month. But they do look a little more stylistic, and you can imagine them being a winner on Pinterest, giving users another way to respond to […]

Google’s Removing Support for Third-Party Tracking Pixels on YouTube in Favor of Ads Data Hub

Google has announced that, from next year, it will stop allowing third-party pixel tracking on YouTube and instead revert marketers to its new Ads Data Hub, which it’s developed with leading industry organizations in order to build a better way to track modern web activity. As explained by Google: “Advertisers use different tools to understand the effectiveness of their ad campaigns.
