LinkedIn is making its new Stories feature available to users in Brazil, while it’s also added new settings and details in the main app as it prepares for a wider launch of the function. As you can see here, LinkedIn Stories, which the company confirmed were coming back in February, look much the same as they do on Facebook and Instagram, with a Stories bar along the top of the screen, and various stickers and tools available to decorate your Stories frames. There’s also now more detail on Stories within the LinkedIn Help pages, including an overview, and FAQ documentation, which outlines more details about how the option works. Some […]
Amid the COVID-19 lockdowns, Facebook has been forced to shut down its moderation centers, and send some 35,000 content reviewers home, which has significantly reduced its capacity to review posts, ads and more. Now, The Social Network is looking to get some moderators back in operation. According to BBC News, Facebook is now re-opening some of its review offices, though staff are only being asked to return on a voluntary basis at this stage. With Pinterest usage on the rise, and its visual data-matching processes evolving, that provides some interesting new considerations for how brands can work with the platform to maximize their exposure and connection. This week, Pinterest has showcased one specific partnership of this type, with Levi’s utilizing Pinterest’s style-matching capabilities to help users find more products aligned to their tastes. [embedded content] As you can see from the video, users are now able to head to ‘Styled by Levi’s’ and take a quick, visual quiz – choosing the images of models that best suit their style – which then generates a custom Pinterest board of shoppable Levi’s Pins, aligned with their […]
Here’s a quick but interesting, one – Instagram is rolling out some new font options for Stories, including new background effects to make your text stand out. Both Instagram and Facebook are constantly adding new Stories features, and it can be hard to keep up with all of them. For example, in the last month alone: Instagram’s also working on ‘DM Me’ and new business promotion stickers, while Facebook’s working on a ‘Mood’ GIF option. And that’s not all of them – there are other smaller tweaks and tests in progress. And this is just over a few weeks. Given the rapid pace of the various updates, it’s worth checking […]

As part of its broader Q3 2020 Performance report, Microsoft has reported that LinkedIn has seen ongoing growth in both total members and engagement. But there’s also been a slowdown in ad spend and job listings as the impacts of COVID-19 take effect. In terms of users, LinkedIn is now up to 690 million total members, increasing from 675 million back in January. Total members, of course, are not active users, the more common stat used to reflect social platform performance, but as an indicative measure, it does show that LinkedIn is continuing to expand, and gain traction in more markets over time. In regards to active usage, Microsoft says that […]

While TikTok is seeing a significant increase in usage amid the COVID-19 lockdowns, questions still remain around how it tracks user data, how its algorithm surfaces content, and what types of information it is, and is not, obligated to share with the Chinese Government. Indeed, just this week, the UK Ministry of Defence issued an internal directive that TikTok is not to be used by staff, citing the app’s likely exposure to the Chinese government. Both the US and Australian military have initiated similar bans on the app – and while TikTok has been working to distance itself, and the data it collects, from the ruling Chinese regime, clearly, that association still […]
