When analyzing your social media performance metrics, you need a level of context to make sense of the numbers and ascertain where you can improve and what’s already working. Comparing the data against your own past stats is the best way to do this, and ensure that you’re aligning with your broader business goals, but it can also be helpful to benchmark your performance against others in your industry, providing further insight into where you’re at, and what you should expect. That’s where this report comes in. This week, RivalIQ has released the latest version of its annual Social Media Industry Benchmark Report, for which they’ve gathered data on the […]

Brands are dedicating more of their marketing dollars to influencers every year – in fact, in a recent survey, 57% of businesses said that they were planning to increase their influencer relations budgets in 2020. And the upward trend is more than bandwagon jumping – influencer campaigns are generating results. Some 80% of the marketers we surveyed said that influencer-generated assets performed the same or better than their own branded content, while 61% of 18- to 34-year-olds have, at some point, been swayed in their decision-making by digital influencers. But brands still want more. They want to know that they’re reaching the right people, they want to test which pieces of content are […]

While you’ve been able to cross-post your Instagram Story to Facebook for some time, you haven’t had the option to do the opposite, and post your Facebook Story direct to Insta. That could be about to change, with Facebook now testing a new option to share your Facebook Story to Instagram in your send settings, which could make it easier to maintain activity on both platforms, and expand your stories’ reach. As you can see in this example, shared by app reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong, the new option would appear in your Facebook Stories visibility options, with a simple toggle to switch on cross-posting of Facebook Stories to […]
It’ll certainly be interesting to see how Redditors respond to this. Looking to capitalize on its growth, and maximize its ad potential, Reddit has this week launched a new Trending Takeover ad unit, which will feature prominently on various surfaces within the app. As explained by Reddit: “Fads, trends, and movements get their start in Reddit communities every day. And as we invest in highlighting those trends for user visibility and participation, it presents a huge opportunity for advertisers looking to align with conversations in real-time. It looks like Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey will remain in the top job at the platform, at least for the time being. Last week, investment management firm Elliott Management Corp. announced that it had purchased a significant stake in Twitter, and that it planned on using its newfound influence at the company to push for changes, including the replacement of Dorsey as CEO. EMC’s main point of contention is that Twitter would be better served if it had a CEO solely focused on improving the company’s performance, which has fluctuated over the last few years. Dorsey, who is also the CEO of rising payments provider Square, may not be able to provide […]
Last month, Twitter shared the first of its ‘Good Copy, Bad Copy’ Twitter tips, in which Twitter creative lead Joe Wadlington outlined some simple, actionable tweet tips that can significantly improve tweet presentation and performance. This week, Wadlington is back to share some more tweet copy tips – and as with last time, while the notes here are very simple, they are indeed worth considering. As outlined by Wadlington, given the fast-moving nature of Twitter, you want to try and keep your messaging as simple as possible, in order to grab attention and maximize response. In the example tweet, the initial text is: “So very excited to reveal our 2020 calendar! ????. […]
Last October, TikTok began testing a new option which enabled selected users to add Wikipedia links to their clips in order to provide more context on certain elements. Now TikTok appears to be expanding that option – user Sam Schmir has provided these screenshots of a new set of options in the ‘Add Link’ prompt which would enable creators to attach a link to Wikipedia, Yelp or TripAdvisor in their video post. It’s an interesting option, providing another way to add more context to a TikTok clip. From a digital marketing standpoint, it’s obviously not as beneficial as adding a link back to your own website, but it could be good for UGC, […]
