Twitter has announced that it will ban all political ads on its platform, globally, as the debate around how social platforms should handle political speech intensifies.
“Traditional sales tactics no longer work because desensitized buyers never, or take days to, respond to emails and refuse to answer calls from numbers they don’t recognize. But savvy sellers who effectively engage on social networks are seeing meaningful results. These modern sellers create 45% more opportunities and are 51% more likely to achieve quota than those who do not embrace social.” This passage, from a landmark report by a marketing leader Forrester, sums up the pain, as well as enormous opportunity, that B2B organizations face when selling their products or services. Social media is now the global marketplace, and salespeople are flocking to social selling. But that doesn’t mean […]
Facebook has been under fire in recent weeks over its decision to exempt political ads from its fact-checking process and rules, which essentially means that politicians will be able to run ads on the world’s largest social media platform and say pretty much whatever they want. That could enable candidates to amplify the reach of lies and rumors – which some are already doing – and potentially manipulate voters and influence critical votes. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg explained this in a recent public address, in which he broadly focused on the values of free speech. As per Zuckerberg: “We don’t fact-check political ads. We don’t do this to help politicians, but […]
As humans, instant gratification is in our DNA, and we now live in a society which is increasingly being built on immediate access. When we want something, we want it now – we don’t want to wait in line or even wait for a mobile web page to load on our device. This is why you now have only eight seconds to make that first digital impression when your dream customer visits your blog, website or social network profiles. When consumers are inconvenienced by a wait of any kind they’ll very often head straight to the next website, the next store, or they’ll skip the purchase altogether. Bottom line – time is our […]
Video marketing remains best performing digital content type, driving more views, more engagement and more response than any other social posting option. Questions have been raised about the actual viability of video content following revelations of problems with Facebook’s video usage metrics, which some have claimed indicate that the prominence of video is not as significant as The Social Network might want us to believe. But for one, the reported errors don’t relate to overall video viewing stats, which remain strong, and second, Facebook isn’t the only platform reporting higher video consumption and engagement numbers: For example: Done right, video content can drive greater response than other social content types. Return on investment has long been a key topic of debate in and around the social media marketing sector. Sure, you might be able to gain a whole lot of followers, but are any of those people actually willing to spend money with your brand? Is social media activity actually indicative of likely consumer purchase behavior? Of course, results will vary based on a range of factors – the specific company, the product itself, the creative elements used, etc. As such, it can be very difficult to get a real assesment on a true social media ROI baseline. But what if, beyond all that, we were also actually looking at social […]
Social media has changed our everyday interactive behaviors, and new norms have been founded around such practices. Now, it’s not uncommon for people to pause before eating a meal in order to take a photo for Instagram, or to see people holding their phone in their outstretched hand, posing for a selfie in the middle of the street. It’s not even that uncommon these days to see someone talking to their phone screen as they walk by, live-streaming direct to their online audience. As social media has become more engrained within out everyday process, such behaviors have become more accepted – but just how accepted are they, and what’s considered […]
While it’s become a much bigger consideration in recent years, influencer marketing, as a practice, has actually existed for a very long time. In the past, however, influencers were only on TV or in magazines, and unlike social media, TV and newspapers are limited, which led to a situation where a select number of celebrities were able to charge tons of money for making an ad for Pepsi or Swatch in order to influence consumer behavior. With the birth of social platforms, everything changed. The Internet has no limits, there can be as many influencers as the world requires. They can be of any age and social status, and in any […]

As reported by Marketing Land, the new option – called ‘Multiple Text Optimization’ – is similar to Google’s ‘Responsive ads‘, which give advertisers the ability to include alternative text options, which its systems can then test and optimize the generate the best results. The option essentially expands on Facebook’s Dynamic Ads, which enable Facebook’s systems to showcase your products based on connected inventory listings – as opposed to you having to create individual ads for each.
